Chicken and Chips

Saturday 3rd March

Woke up after a bad night's sleep. Awake multiple times in the night because our neighbour decided to practice his operatic skills (of which there were little) at 2am and someone else attempted to rearrange the furniture in the kitchen at 4am.

After long showers (which we ((Beth)) had to unclog *gags*) we set off to find the Dubai Food Festival. We headed for the Etisalat Beach Canteen, located at Jumeirah Beach. This was a maze of food stalls, cooking demonstrations and seating areas right on the seafront.

There was considerable salivation occurring.

Following rigorous assessment of all options we got chicken tenders and cheesy chips with Sizzlin' California Sriracha sauce for 35AED (£7). The dude behind the till was a top salesman and after a sip of their charcoal lemonade (tastes better than it looks) we had one of those too at 15AED (£3).

Kite Beach (famous for water sports and activities) was just behind the Canteen so we had a stroll. Mesmerised by the numerous kite-surfers we sat on the sand for 45 mins lapping up the sun and atmosphere. Beth created her own kite (type thing). When in Rome.

Dan eventually put suncream on the tip of his nose due to Beth's insistence.

Returning to the Festival Dan required more chicken. This time presented in a waffle cone with spicy ranch sauce. Don't come between Dan and his chicken.

Consuming a mountain of chicken and sitting in the sun is exhausting (it's a hard life), so we headed for the hostel at 6.30pm.

Thanks for reading our blog everyone. We just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has left comments on the posts. Annoyingly the website does not allow us to reply to you, but we are reading and loving your words, so please keep posting!

Love,

B&D
