Hanoi, Han and Ha-long

Howdy doody! I'm currently writing this post in Bangkok (second visit) waiting for a flight to Phuket in southern Thailand. We've had quite a few weeks since our last post; floating through pitch-black caves in Laos' Vang Vieng, getting caught in terrifying lightening storms, stumbling across a prestigious fashion show, cooking a 5 course Thai dinner in Chiang Mai and donning our straw hats to volunteer on a remote jungle farm home to a Karen tribe. But hey, that's all to come.

For now, here's photos from the 21st - 25th April. We met up with my close family friend Hannah. Hannah is currently living in Hanoi for 9 months teaching English to roughly 1,000 Vietnamese children per week! Sounding incredibly daunting to an outsider, Hannah assured us of the fun they have in the classroom and the respect she gains from the kids. Plus she gets to explore other parts of Vietnam on the weekends - what an experience!

Feeling on top of the world at Ha Long Bay!

Meeting up with close family friend Hannah in Aubergine Cafe, Hanoi <3

Out for drinks at MK Hotel where we met Han's friends

Mutant orange! Ft. flattering temple overalls

Visited a pagoda by the lake

Dan gaining celeb status yet again!

So good to see a familiar face!

Coconut chocolate and coffee iced coolers! (try saying that fast)

Dinner - passion fruit duck and cashew nut chicken

Took a day trip to Ha Long Bay, about 3 hours from Hanoi

The Bay has roughly 2,000 limestone islets (shame it wasn't sunnier!)

Trying to secure people-free photo space!!

Kayaking through the islets (navigating our way past row boats of singing tourists!)

So tiny compared to the towering stone!

Look at the boat in the background as perspective - these rocks are huge!

Explored the caves

Went to the Military History Museum in Hanoi

Vietnam, it seems, is a very sought after country unfortunately

Chocolate cookie iced drinks at Rustic Coffee

Tried on a traditional headdress at the Women's Museum (think I nailed it)

How fruits and other products are sold on the streets - heavy!

Cutting pineapples on the roadside amid the chaos

Stay tuned for our Laos blog post - coming soon!

Love,

B&D x
